The Old Man of Storr

Seals at Dunvegan

| The moon and stars are so bright they light up the night sky as clear as daylight.
|

The Trotternish Ridge forms the spectacular
backbone of north Skye. Footpaths allow easy access to the Storr
& Quiraing where you may see eagles, buzzards, ravens and ring ousels,
as well as unusual plant life.

Heritage
- History - Culture - Landscape - Wildlife |
| |
Skye is an idyllic island, rich in natural beauty and ancient
heritage. This is a land of legends, Scottish history and unspoilt
culture where the Gaelic language is still spoken and sung locally.
During your holiday or weekend break, we aim to enrich walks through
wonderful scenery with a variety of special experiences from this
captivating land. We will discover castles, deserted villages, ancients
brochs & standing stones. See evidence of the Clearances and visit
more recent crofting communities.
The area is famous for its geological treasures dating back to pre
history; fossils, dinosaur bones and footprints. A few hours fossil
hunting on the Staffin shoreline is great fun and rewarding. Other
riches include the enchanting Kilt Rock, the wierd shapes of the
Quiring & Old Man of Storr and so much, much more.
Whatever time of year you visit Skye is a wonderful place to see
rare wildlife. Otters, Eagles, Corncrakes, Puffins, Pinemartens,
Seals, Porpoises and Whales are amoung our inhabitents and few areas
in Europe have as great a diversity of plant life.
The sounds of
our wild neighbours are echoed in the fine traditions of Gaelic
music still at the heart of this community. The haunting drone of
the Pipes, harmonies of Gaelic song, sweet aires of the Clarsach
and the thrill of a Traditional Ceilidh Band will provide lasting
memories. |
